Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) reaction with oil stains
« on: April 08, 2016, 03:35:25 AM »
We conducted an experiment and found out that Sodium carbonate removed a oil stain from a shirt. It is written on Wikipedia that this removal can happen, but we could not find anywhere any explanation for why Sodium carbonate can remove oil stains. I would be grateful if someone knows, and could explain it to me (+ add an source, if it is possible)
Thank you  :)

Greetings TeffelChe11:, I'd like to welcome you to the Chemical Forums, but I'd like you to re-read the Forum Rules{click}.  We'd like to see some effort from you first.  Since you already have the answer from wikipedia, the easy work is done.  What more information can you infer, from the lab procedure, or your recent class notes?  What grease did you use?  What other reagents did you try?  What other tests were performed?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
