Career plans
« on: May 06, 2016, 07:12:03 AM »
I recently started a PhD in analytical chemistry at the Faculty of agriculture in my home country (in Eastern Europe). After (if) I complete the PhD successfully, my dream is to work abroad, and the countries of interest are Brazil, Japan, UK or some Scandinavian country. I'm equally keen on staying in academia or pursuit an industrial career, but I need to make a decision on learning the language, as IMHO it's much easier to get a job in one of these countries (academia especially) if able to speak the native language. However, I have no idea which of these countries choose.

Anyone has an advice? What's the situation on job offers related to chemistry in agriculture in these countries (both academia and industry)?

Most people in Scandinavia speak English anyway. Can't go wrong with learning English.
