Hello dear chemists;

For my IB Chemistry HL Internal Assessment I am planning to measure the silicate contents of various silica-cat-litters from different brands. I will first synthesize sodium silicate from the silica gels by the addition of NaOH. But after that I do not know how to measure the concentration of sodium silicate in these solutions. Any methods?

Whether you use an ICP-MS or a wet chemistry test, you will have to dissolve the silicate in HF.  Not a task for a novice, and I'm sure the school won't let you.  You should quickly select something else to work with.

Do you have any idea of the other kitty litter ingredients?

If there are all organic, you might be able to do a gravimetric analysis
by ashing the sample at high temperature (500C).
