I have an experiment I need to complete for chemistry and I am given a few pieces of information. The Titrant which is N2 EDTA and the Materials: NH3 / NH4+ + Buffer,
and Erichrome Black T as the indicator.
So I know I need to standardize the EDTA but I am confused on how to go about this based on what I am given. I've looked up standardizing EDTA and have found examples of how to standardize against calcium carbonate and metallic magnesium.
I think once I understand how to standardize my titrant, I will be able to find the concentration of calcium ions (The Purpose of the Lab in case you were wondering) by doing another titration with the standardized EDTA and either NH4 or NH4+ plus a buffer with some indicator (Erichrome Black T) to determine the concentration.
In short, I am looking for some clues on how to prepare N2 EDTA.
Thanks to any Responses in Advance.
