Hydrogen Peroxide

I hope it is ok to ask this here, I couldn't exactly find a better place for the question.

I asked this question on yahoo answers, and I recieved nothing but ignorant replies towards the making of bombs and how I should now watch out (I'm deathly afraid to now continue my woodworking business, ::) ). I guess it demonstrates the true mentality of current society...but I won't go there now.

Basically, we are looking for higher concentrations of H2O2. The lower concentrations of 35% cannot be reused as many times as is preferable for bleaching. Anything 50%+ concentration should be adequate, I imagine, with 70% what we are after.

Is this something we could expect to find available to consumers? Or am I now labeled as a "bombmaker" for asking this type of question?

If anyone has suggestions on where to look, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

Aldrich won't sell to individuals, but if the OP has a business and can show that this high concentration H2O2 is used for that purpose, then of course Aldrich will sell.

Having 35% as a starting material, you might be able to concentrate this safely by partially freezing the 35% stuff. The ice will contain mostly water, the remaining liquid is higher concentration H2O2. I however, must admit, that I never tried this method at such high concentrations. I have done this for making 10% H2O2 from the plain 3% stuff and that works fine with reasonable yield. I suggest you give it a try with a small quantity and see if it works.

Another method may be boiling under low pressure, but that requires more apparatus and is much more dangerous.

You can also buy 50% H2O2 from Cole-Parmer (the UK one anyway).

I found this. I hadn't heard about it until I was reading about H2O2 one wiki.

Someone else probably knows about the feasibility of this in your situation.
