acid-base equilibrium
« on: February 11, 2017, 10:33:57 AM »
Hello, I'm from Poland and biochemistry gives me really hard time during my studies.

I am not sure about this:

Reabsorption of HCO3- takes places in: hypokalemia, vomitting, metabolic alkalosis, metabolic acidosis. Underline correct ones.

What I think:

during hypokalemia, cells of renal tubules are acidified, which leads to reabsorption of HCO3- and H+ release.

during vomitting, there is lack of CL- so the metabolic alkalosis may occur, and therefore reabsorption of HCO3- is increased.

during metabolic alkalosis, Na+=const. while there is lack of Cl-, and the reabsorption of HCO3- itself is a main cause of alkalosis.

in metabolic acyduria, for example type II, the reabsorption of HCO3- is impaired, but what if metabolic acyduria is caused by lack of insuline, is it impaired too?

Is my answer correct? Thank you,in advance, for your time. Greetings
