Capsaicin
« on: March 13, 2017, 09:49:06 PM »
I am researching the molecule capsaicin and how it reacts with alcohol or milk. I know this molecule is insoluble in water and soluble in alcohol and milk. I need to include a chemical reaction for this project but I don't know how to set up the equation between capsaicin and either alcohol or milk-like what the products would be.

I would appreciate if some could help me.

thanks

To set up a reaction, you have to know the reactants.  What is the chemical formula of milk?  If you can't find one, then you can't write a reaction.

Question for you:  does everything that dissolves involve a reaction?  What's the reaction of dissolving table salt in water?  Maybe you can do that one.  But do you have a reaction for dissolving table sugar in water?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
