Synthesis of acetanilide
« on: April 07, 2017, 01:54:49 AM »
Hi. I have this organic chemistry project- synthesis of acetanilide. My procedures are basically aniline + water + acetic anhydride then mix and crystallization. The over-all reaction is:
aniline + acetic anhydride ---> acetanilide and acetic acid.

I would like to know what happened to the acetic acid once the acetanilide is precipitated. I hope someone would help me. Thank you.

Why do you think something happened to it?
