I have an assignment in a college course that involving making a demonstration for a high school chemistry class. I planned on providing a practical demonstration of stoichiometry using the reaction of calcium chloride and sodium bicarb.

My question is would it be possible to measure the mass of CO2 released by the reaction? Would the CO2 be released into the atmosphere quickly or does it remain in solution for awhile?

Thanks!

What is the reaction.  Can you draw it out?  Have you ever seen CO2 evolved in a chemical reaction?  What did it look like?  Check Youtube or Google images, this is a common high school or earlier process and can be easily seen.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
