Yesterday, I was messing around with some copper sulfate. I was originally plating old screws with copper. Once I got my screws plated, I (for some reason) added some 3% hydrogen peroxide to the CuSO4 solution. After I did this, It went from deep blue to green. I transferred this to a flask and did some tests. It seems to have a neutral PH, and is soluble in water. What could this be? Impurities in my copper sulfate? A copper complex?
I got my copper sulfate at my local hardware store. It is 99.0% pure.
I got my hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy/first aid section of my local Walmart.
Thanks,
