Google Earth - your coordinates?
« on: January 14, 2006, 09:49:48 AM »
Have you installed Google Earth?

See me at 52°19'37.86"N, 21°05'23.92"E

Well, you can see roof only, but I am most likely below :)

Although I was not home when the picture was taken - my car is not on the street.

Se also Warsaw University Chemistry Faculty located at 52°12'54.33"N 20°58'57.53"E - branched buliding. Northern part is mostly administrative/organic, central (wide wing to the left) contains large lecture hall, southern wings are inorganic/analytical/electrochemical, most southern part of the building (near the trees) - is physical chemistry and computational chemistry.

I haven't installed Google Earth (I have only a dial-up connection so it wouldn't work too well) but I know my home coordinates are N30 15.754 W97 46.520.  (This is expressed as degrees and fractional minutes, no seconds.  I.e. one step of annoying unit conversion removed.)

I used Earth Viewer in 2002 and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then the company disappeared and now all those old photos are used by google. Strange.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

Austin? Somehow I remembered you stated you live in Chile. But perhaps I have mistaken Texas flag and Chile flag. From this distance they are hard to recognize ;)

Yes, Austin, Texas.  The flags are indeed similar, I'm not sure what the difference (if any) is.  I might change the star to a Longhorn symbol (University of Texas) someday.

The Texas flag is partly to point out the ridiculous fact that it is illegal for me to own an Erlenmeyer flask without a permit (a process that is unreasonably burdensome and otherwise unacceptable).  Sadly, I am not making this up.

For the last 9 years and the next for the next 3 days, and between the 2nd August and 3rd September I have/will live here: 51o31'16.84"N (or 51.5213456464N)  0o18'14.58"W (or 0.304050358861), and hopefully from 3rd September for the next few years I will be living here: 43o40'02.28"N (or 43.6673006479N)  79o23'57.48"W (or 79.3993004721W). That aerial view is quite old as now there is a lovely modern residence in place of the building site. I just really hope my application is successful for that residence, otherwise I will have to live in some ugly place, with a meal plan (:-X), miles from the chemistry department :'(.

So, you're moving to Toronto, aren't you?

Rather close to a stadium, isn't it?  :)

Yeah, all the flights are booked and I'm off to Toronto! ;D

And about the stadium; the residence is rather close to a now demolished stadium. ;)

At least the sports fields near you are still functioning. :P
