Uncertainty calculation (Help Please!)
« on: February 27, 2019, 11:04:14 PM »
1.0 x (0.01000 +/- 0.00002) = ?

I'm not sure how many sig figs the final answer should be because the question has 2 sig figs (1.0M) but then the uncertainty is 0.00002 and the last digit of the final answer needs to be in the same digits place as the uncertainty.

If the uncertainty of 1.0 M is not given you have to assume the value is something between 0.95 and 1.04(9) (as these will be all written as 1.0). That means uncertainty of 1.0 is around ±0.05 and much, much higher than the uncertainty of the other number.
