I came across this topic while searching, and even though it's old, I think this post might clear up some confusion about the switch2hydrogen website. Reilibility is certainly questionable with their products. They also run unitednuclear.com, which is a great supply store for a hobbyist chemist. I have purchased from them before and they would be my frist choice if I needed to buy chemicals online again. You may have read about them in Wired. However, the owner is also the man who claims he worked in Area 51 and saw a real UFO covered up by government conspiracy. So I would recommend taking things from their site with a grain of salt.

That being said, I do believe that their hydrogen vehicle works, as it is logical and Wired appears to have confirmed it. Their hydride is Sodium Borohydride. The only reason this technology is not huge right now is the fine print- remember that it takes about 51 kwh to electrolyze 1 kg of hydrogen. In order for a corvette to get a 400 mile range on 4 tanks, I would assume based on crude calculations that each tank contains about 5 kg of hydrogen. Say you had a home hydrogen generator (the only reasonable way IMHO to refill this type of hydride because of the time it takes to refuel) that was maybe 5kwh- that means that each tank would take over two days to refuel. So for a 400 mile range, you would need to constantly run your generator for about 8 days. Aside from this [rather large] downfall, the technology is viable and researched. It's only a matter of time before it finds it's way onto the market.
