Making bleach
« on: January 31, 2020, 10:06:58 PM »
I separated chlorine from sodium, using electrolysis on salt water and got myself a bottle full of nasty chlorine gas and I wanna turn it into bleach water. How can I do this? Just by adding and mixing water in it, will it dissolve?

1. Good you know chlorine is nasty, bad that you made it without plans for disposal.

2. Just water won't work too well, solution of a hydroxide would be better.

Well I got plans to make hydrochloric acid, besides, I didnt produce way too much of it.

Just mixing it with hydroxide is enough then?

More or less, you will get a solution of chloride and hypochlorite.

Have you checked what bleach is, and how is it related to hypochlorite, or do you expect to be spoon feed?
