Penthyl acetate synthesis and the heating of the reaction?
« on: April 14, 2020, 07:54:20 PM »
Hi all.

My lab partners are performing a penthyl acetate synthesis lab and the alcohol being used is 1-pentanol. One question we are struggling with is following the addition of the alcohol, why was the reaction heated?

Thank you for any help.
