Hello,
I wanted to make calcium acetate from CaO and acetic acid. So I put 1 kg of burnt lime together with 1.5 l of acetic acid (98%) and some water. After it heavily reacted, I let it dry out and got a white powder. I thought it must be calcium acetate, but it is water insoluble. Calcium acetate would be soluble at about 300 g/l, this stuff does not dissolve at all. Does anyone know what that could be?
