The question says “State why the precise relative atomic mass for the carbon-12 isotope is exactly 12.00000”
I think it’s something to do with all the other atomic masses being based off Carbon-12 but I don’t know.

It was choosen. 1/12 of the isotope
12
C has the weight 1 u . In the past also hydrogen and oxygen was taken. The precise number came out with carbon.
