Extraction of caffeine from LIQUIDS
« on: May 07, 2020, 10:30:15 AM »
Hi, everyone.
I am really struggling with finding the methods to decaffeinate energy drinks and bottled tea, which are both liquids. Does anyone here have ideas? Please help.

It is a little strange, what is the point with energydrinks without caffeine? I think it is difficult to remove caffeine without altering the composition altogether.

You could extract with an organic solvent like ethyl acetate but then other stuff would be removed as well, and it would no longer be advisable to drink.

Yes wildfyr, I agree. It seems impossible to not get out a lot other stuff, fruit-esters etc.

Thank you, everyone. It is just an experiment I have to do, so I will not drink it.
Thank you very much:)
