IBC blending
« on: October 19, 2020, 04:13:43 AM »
Hello Friends,

I need to order an IBC (250gl;1m3) mixer for lubricants. Its an impeller that is introduced in the IBC and operated by electricity or air.

I was wondering if it is possible to calculate what motor I need in order to have a fully blended IBC, since I have the density, viscosity of the material..
obviously that this is a broad question that depends on number of impellers, their location and other factors. But if I want to say "go or no go" for specific quote(0.5 HP 600 RPM for example), what calculation should I do?
I am not sure if this is turbulence intensity or else.
Please advise.
Best Regards,

For those who are interested, the important factor is the torque[Nm]. So I got the data from other blending tanks and got a general torque value for the IBC. Then checked the motor that produces this torque and that gave me the Hp and the RPM.
