Hi, studying for midterms, and very confused about part of this reaction, can someone please help me. Also if I'm doing anything incorrectly let me know. Thank you.
but-1-yne-----------> ---------------->------------->
NaNH2 C2H5I B2H6
Okay so what I have so far is since we have a terminal alkyne when can remove a hydrogen to get
HCCCH2CH2- and NH3+
Then when you react it with the haloalkane, C2H5I, you can do an alkylation reaction and get hex-1-yne, and NH3+I-
But I'm very confused about the reaction with diborane (B2H6), I really don't even know where to begin.
