Polymers (Plastics) and additives/fillers
« on: March 10, 2021, 10:55:13 PM »
Hello!

I'm writing a research paper and my topic is plastic. I was wondering how does the fillers/additives added to plastic change the structure of the polymers to make them malleable or sturdy. What do the fillers/additives do to change the way the plastic turns out. I'm having a difficult time trying to find information on this so if possible, I'd also appreciate if some key words to search up more info on this is provided since I need to cite my information. Links would also help.

Thank you.

Search for how a plasticizer works. As a specific example, you might look for phthalates in PVC. Or, the effect of water when it is absorbed into many biopolymers like polylactic acid.
