Hi, I have a question about dissolving. I know that substances like NaCl can dissolve (and dissociate) in water. I know that sucrose can dissolve in water.
Is it proper to say that Mg dissolves when it reacts with HCl? Thank you in advance!

You can say so. The 2 first example are physical dissolving. The substances will not change. If water is evaporated then the salt and sugar comes back. The 3rd one is chemical dissolving by changing compounds. Magnesium will be changed to its ion. If water is evaporated Magnesiumchloride will remain.
