Caustic Soda Conversion
« on: September 08, 2022, 01:11:36 PM »
Hello,
At my work, we use caustic soda to make pH adjustments in various chemical tanks. One of our procedures calls for granular caustic soda, but, right now, we only have 50% w/w solution of caustic soda. How would I convert the required amount of granular caustic soda to the required amount of the 50% w/w solution? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just directly apply w/w% definition to find mass of the solution that contains required amount of NaOH, high school math.

You will need solution density to convert the mass to volume if you prefer measuring volume than weighing the liquid.

That's what I figured, but I wanted to confirm before making any additions. Thank you for your help
