Can someone explain ion to ion intermolecular force to me ?
« on: November 17, 2023, 08:59:42 PM »
I know there are many types of intermolecular force such as H- boding, London force and dipole-dipole.

Dipole - Dipole must be polar,  H bonding contains H bond with ONF but i was wondering how do you identify the ion-ion intermolecular forces?  Any tips ?

Thanks

Think about the definition of ions.  Here is a hint:  some ion-ion forces (electrostatic forces) are attractive (bringing ions together), and some electrostatic forces are repulsive (pushing ions apart).
