PVA thin films - advice
« on: December 07, 2023, 02:10:29 AM »
Hello,
I recently started working on thin films and I am about to synthesize one. Plan is to make a Rose bengal dyed PVA solution and spin coat that on glass. My aim is to just learn how to make them. If it turns out good, I am planning to a UV absorption analysis too. But, I don't know how much chemicals should I add to make the solution. Can anyone help? Or, is there any other suggestions to start with?
Thanks.

PVA is basically only soluble in water and various high boiling solvents you don't want to deal with. You need warm water to dissolve it (to melt the crystalline regions) then it will stay soluble in room temperature water.
