need help in my diy fire gel experiment
« on: September 30, 2024, 08:57:04 AM »
I'm trying to make a fire gel by mixing mussel shells and vinegar to get calcium acetate, then I mixed the calcium acetate in 70% ethyl alcohol. I'm expecting formation of a gel-like substance but nothing is happening. Is there anything that needs to be changed in my method?

I wonder if 70% ethanol is not too weak for sterno making. It is all in concentrations.
