I am having trouble with a nomenclature for alkenes problem. Please open the picture attached. If that doesn't work, here is a description:

First, there is a pentane ring (5 carbon ring) and a bond attached to the carbon which is next to the carbon at the top of the ring (the pointy part). That bond is CH2-CH2-C ( with a methyl group attached at the top) double bonded to C with two methyl groups.


Okay, my guess is 6-cyclopentyl-2,3-dimethyl-2-hexene. Please *delete me* Thanks.

How did you get that? If it's butene, wouldn't there be 2 methyl groups as substituents?

ChemDraw says it's (3,4-dimethylpent-3-enyl)cyclopentane.  That might not be the best answer though.  It depends on whether or not carbocyclics are higher naming priority than alkenes.
