Writing a children's book Re: Lithium
« on: October 16, 2004, 10:25:52 AM »
Our high school chemistry teacher assigned a project in which we have to write a CHILDREN'S book concerning an element.  I have the element LITHIUM.

It must be written in simple terms for kids to understand and include pictures.  My web research has found uses to include simple-to-understand things like batteries.

How do I explain "lithium stearate" as a lubricant - how is it used?
How do I explain "lithium hydroxide" as it is used in space?
How do I explain lithium use in glasses and ceramics?

What are your suggestions for OTHER important uses that children would grasp? I know it's used for bi-polar disorder but that's going to be difficult to explain.

Thank you for your help.
