« on: November 28, 2006, 07:43:52 PM »
i just can't seem to balance this reaction correctly.  the question is

Sulfur tetrafluoride + Water ----> Sulfur dioxide + Hydrogen fluoride

My attempt...

SFl3 + H2O ----> SO2 + HFl

Everything i try and do to balance it comes out not working, did i write it out wrong maybe??

Dp you have it now, then?

I'd suggest starting wwith floruine to balance, then see what else needs to be balanced from there.

SF4 + 2H2O  --> SO2 + 4HF

Would be the correct answer.
