Electrolysis of water
« on: November 30, 2006, 01:19:23 AM »
Hello,
I'm not sure that I have the answer to this question correct.

By the eletrolysis of water, 11.2 L of oxygen at STP was prepared.
a) What charge was required?
b) If a current of 0.5A was used, how long did it take?

a)
Standard volume 22.4L = 1A
11.2L =0.5A

Q = 0.5 x 386,000
Q = 193,000 (not sure what the units are)

b) S = 193,000/0.5
= 386,000

386,000/3600 = 107.22hours

Thanks!
