Hi! I know how to make intramolecular hemiacetal compounds when it's not broken up into its parts in a reaction.
However, I am puzzled by (pretend there is an image here that I translated into IUPAC)
5-hydroxy-2-methylhexanal

pretend the alcohol and aldehyde parts of 5-hydroxy-2-methylhexanal were not connected in the one molecule - to give the intramolecular hemiacetal. What does that look like? Now join the parts up to form a ring using the right number of carbons.
