Could you guys direct me to a good online guide to reading NMRs and IRs.

Thanks

This one is pretty awesome, if you're looking for a database.

Is a decently good reference for IR spectroscopy.  The Brown and Foote organic chem textbook gives a fairly good introduction to analyzing organic compounds by IR, NMR, and mass spec.

Cool! I printed out the notes and gave it to a friend of mine, that have a little trouble with spectroscopy.
No single thing abides, but all things flow.
Fragment to fragment clings, and thus they grow
Until we know and name them.
Then by degrees they change and are no more
The things we know.

glad to hear that  ;D  make sure you click on all those boxes too for what he calls enrichment and to see practice problems :)

If you want to look at any of his other notes he had for the semester so far, he has a gapped version and a completeled version to view.  His notes are really good :)

Hello abraxas:

My contribution (it's not on line, but is a pretty cool flow chart that help you (anytime and anywhere) to interpret IR and NMR spectra. I hope that you have access to Journal of Chemical Education.

Title:         Interpreting infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of simple
                organic compounds for the beginner.
Author(s) : Ingham, A. M.; Henson, R. C.
Citation:     Journal of Chemical Education (1984) 61: 704.

If you don't have ACCESS to JCE, please send me a private message and I'll send you a pdf copy of this article. My email is chiralic@gmail.com

Best regards,

Chiralic
