MacGyver tooth toxic?
« on: January 12, 2007, 03:00:52 PM »
I had a partial plate made, and it had a huge gap at the top. My prothodontist won't fix or replace it, so yesterday in desperation I burned off the tooth with a match, and replaced it with a larger tooth I had (from a professional denture-making kit from the 1970s), attaching it to the mouth-plate with denture repair epoxy from the drugstore. It works and looks good, amazingly! But I wonder if the acrylic, or whatever the plate is made of, could have been made toxic when I melted it to get the old tooth off. It had a melty kind of smell, which is now very faint, but perceptible. Anyone know where I might turn for the answer to this?
