Entry level chemistry questions
« on: February 11, 2007, 06:18:34 PM »
I'm in my first chemistry class, and unfortunately I seem to have less knowledge then is expected, because I'm expected to answer questions about a lab that was done, to write down word equations to represent the reactions, but I don't know how to go about doing this at all.  For instance one experiment was to heat potassium chlorate and test for gas (oxygen, which was present).  But how is this supposed to be written down as a word equation?  Or in other cases where two chemicals react, how is that supposed to be written?

Word equation is something like "hydrogen reacts with oxygen giving water".
