Hi
Just wondering if anybody could explain to me in terms of equations why the [H+] and [OH-] lines in logarithmic diagrams are straight lines with negative and positive slopes respectively.
I know why the slopes are negative and positive since log[H+] = -pH and log[OH-] = pH - pKw...but not sure as to why the logC = 0 at pH =0 and logC =0 at pH=14.
I hope this is sufficient info. Please let me know if you require further information. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Aisha
