Chemistry Scavenger Hunt
« on: June 03, 2007, 06:07:06 PM »
Hi guys? i need help with my scavenger hunt for chem class, its 50 questions, and the items i need to find cant be illegal or dangerous, and you cannot duplicate...please help me! i already have most of these, but just need to verify and get the rest...thanks!

1.Hetrogeneous Mixture
2. Homogenous Mixture
3. An Alloy
4. A 5 ml satured solution of an ionic compound (show all work)
5. pure element
6. picutre of an excited atom ( i got this)
7. a metallic element
8. nonmetallic element
9. a metalloid
10. .300 moles of sodium bicarbonate (show work)
11. an element with +2 and +3 Oxidation states
12. A Pure substance
13. A compound
14. A Hydrate
15. a covalent compound
16. silicon dioxide (where do i find these))!?
17. a homogenous substance that is 42.1 % C, 6.42 % H, and 51. 4 % O
18. the insoluble product that forms from mixing sodium carbonate with calcim chloride when both are (aq)
19. an oxide of a transitional metal
20. a substance containing methyl salicylate
21. the amount of water whose temp would change by 15 C when its absorbed 150 joules of heat energy (show work)
22. substance with density of 8230 KG/M3 (to the third power)
23. a subtance formed from reacting silver chloride and zinc
24. a 0.00044643 Mol Sample of a gas (show work)
25.a substance that lowers the freezing point of water

And if you guys dont mind, help my partner as well, but its not as important, with these:

an endothermic change
an exothermic change
a hydrocarbon with a molecular mass more than 100G/mol
an isomer of 1-propanol
a synthetic polymer
a natural polymer
an arrhenius acid
an arrhenius base
a bronsted lowery base
a physical equilibrium system containing two phases
a chemical equilibrium system containing two or more phases
a binary covalent compound
a substance that can be used as a reactant in the fermentation reaction
a diatomic molecule
two substances that could be used as the electrodes in a voltaic cell
a substance produced by a redox reaction.

Thanks so much!!

16. silicon dioxide (where do i find these))!?

Silicon dioxide, also known as silica, is the most common constituent of sand.

What other specific ones are you having trouble with?

Silicon dioxide is in glass, but modern glass has so much other in it.

Sand is mostly silica (silicon dioxide).

As for the rest, you basically posted the entire thing and are asking for everybody to do it for you. No, we are not. We will help you with specific questions (like for instance, the one I answered in this post), not do your assignments for you.

A special kind of glass from pure silica is also used in photochemistry
