Hi,
I'm having a bit of trouble calculating the percent yield of my product. Can someone please help?
I did an experiment where I wanted to produce 3-sialyllactose using fetuin (a protein) and Lactose as starting materials.
So I added 1.5g of fetuin (Mr=44 kDa) and 769mg of lactose (Mr = 342) to 15ml of 50mM phosphate buffer, I then added 1500ul of my enzyme which would transfer sialic acid from fetuin and add to lactose giving me 3-sialyllactose (Mr = 633).
Now I don't know how to calculate the percent yield of 3-siailyllactose
. Can someone please explain how to do this?
Thank you very much
