The decarboxylation of alpha-hydroxyacids can be made by heating to ~190ÂșC in what is known as Blaise-Le Sueur degradation. The products are an aldehyde, water, and carbon monoxide: in general, heating RCHOHCO2H will give RCHO + CO + H2O. Here's an old reference for you: J. Chem. Soc., 1904, volume 85, page 827.
