Searching for Heavy Liquid
« on: September 27, 2007, 07:29:43 AM »
Hello,
Im searching for a solution that is liquid and transparent at room temperature and has a density of 2.5-3.0 g/cm3.
The liquid should also NOT react in any way with Ga-In-Sn alloy or with Acryl. It would also be good if the solution had some reducing effect on the Ga-In-Sn alloy (if it for some reason should be oxidized).

I know this is hard to find but im glad for any suggestions or answers on this matter.

Thanx

There are definitely people on the forum who can be more help than I can.

It sounds like you work in a lab, or in industry, and so you know what's dangerous and what's not.  My first suggestion is various halogenated hydrocarbons.  Dibromomethane might fit the bill...but I don't know if it'll react with your alloy.

Look for ionic liquids.
