Hot sample on a balance

If you have a sample that you are weighing, and it is hot, will it be lighter or heavier than if it was cool?

Lighter when it is hot, heavier when it is cool, it will collect water vapor that condenses as it cools

For these reasons, you should let things cool under vacuums or in dessicators.
