Chemist vs. Chemical Engineer
« on: October 15, 2007, 11:31:26 PM »
I had a opinion question for you guys. Which job is better, being a chemist or a chemical engineer? I'm a sophomore in highschool so I have alot fo time to think about stuff, but im very interested in chemistry and would like to major in it, maybe. I would like to know the key differences between a chemist and a chemical engineer because my dad said a engineer gets paid more(which I know doesnt matter) and I would like to know why. Thanks.

A Chemical Engineer does get paid more, at a Bachelors or Masters level, typically.

A chemical engineers job is typically to design a larger scale version of something already developed in a lab by a chemist, and run and maintain a large scale production.

A chemical engineer typically works in industry, production, fabrication, etc.
A chemist, while on a BS or Masters level works in a lab doing what you would think of as chemistry.
