Hi,
Can any body tell me , It was possible to make 1,3 or 1,2 Propendiol from glycerol .What is the mechanism.

I guess only fermentation methods are available..
You might be knowing that the commercial routes for the synthesis of 1,2-PDO and 1,3-PDO are hydration of propylene oxide and acrolein respectively. For 1,3-PDO, however, Shell's process of hydroformylation of ethylene oxide to 3-HPA, followed by the hydrogenation of 3-HPA.
