Pure ammonia
« on: October 17, 2007, 01:53:08 PM »
Hello

I'm building an anhydrous ammonia AC unit that uses a heat pump instead of a compressor.

on my expansion valve, I have a pressure equlaization line.

This line will be connected to the tube after the evaporator to sense the pressure drop.

My question is, can I use a plastic tube in this connection?

Meaning, are there are problem with using a plastic tube with pure ammonia gas in it?

Plastic as in PET or PVC. Either way though, I don't think ammonia will react with it.

Just try a test piece with safety precautions; then observe.
