« on: October 21, 2007, 10:16:43 PM »
what chemical would strip only copper from a penny leaving just the zinc in the middle? in other words, what would react with copper but leave zinc alone?

 (Cu,Zn) +HCl (l) , then leave the Cu    ( I am from VN , so grammar is not good )  ;D
You have ZnCl2 (l) , then you electrolyze ---> Zn + Cl2  .  ;)

Try looking at the activity series and choose a salt that involves a metal in between copper and zinc?
