Reaction of Beta-mercaptoethanol with NaOH

Hello

I work in a company that use small amounts of beta-mercaptoethanol and treat the waste by NaOH (pH around 11-12) to neutralize the beta-mercaptoethanol.

I'm interested to know what is the chemical reaction(s), mechanism and the products of this (these) reaction(s)

It is very likely an acid base reaction, with the SH group being more easily deprotonated.
