Conformations
« on: October 27, 2007, 11:54:02 PM »
Hey everyone,

I have a question regarding conformations. I know you can't have conformations on a C-C double bond because it's not mobile. But, what it the case if the double bond is between carbon and, say oxygen?

I tried drawing the newman's projections to name the conformation (anti, eclipsed, gauch, etc), but since I have a double bond (C=O) I can only have 5 projections instead of 6 (and so, the "angle" is affected).

Any tips?
