PLEASE HELP..
1) A 5.00 g sample of borax (sodium tetraborate decahydrate, Na2B4O7.10H2O)
was thoroughly heated to remove all the water of hydration. what mass of anhydrous sodium tetraborate remained?
how do you find anhydrous mass?

First step is to calculate the percentage by mass of H20 in Borax.

It can be done in many ways. You may for example start with reaction equation. Or you may do as Padfoot suggests. In all cases you will have to compare molar mass of hydrated substance with that of anhydrous. What are molar masses of both substances?
