Molecules Problems
« on: December 02, 2007, 03:18:05 PM »
Ok.  I have these molecules:
H/2
HF
C/2H/2
CH/2Cl/2
N/2
CH/3OH
HCO\3 ^-1
PO\3 ^-3
PO/4 ^-3

I need to find the molecular hybridization, bond types, and molecular polarity for each.  How do I do that?

the best way to start is to draw their molecular structures to see what kind of bonds (o.a. single, double) you are dealing with

I would draw a 2-D molecular structure for each on of those. Then looking at how many lone pairs of electrons and bonds they have. From that, I can form a view of it's 3-D structure, and thus the name, the bond angles, hybridization, etc.
