simmons-smith cyclopropanation on large scale
« on: January 04, 2008, 02:27:32 PM »
Hi everyone,

Do you know any alternative for double bond cyclopropanation (allylic alcohol) that could be eventually scaled up?
Simmons-Smith conditions with expensive CH2I2 and Zn disposals are not feasible enough to be handled on scale.

best regards

Alternatively you could use diazomethane. Since diazoalkanes are explosive, you could also use trimethylsilyldiazomethan (more expensive) for larger scales.
