Oxidation, iodation, sulfuration. *delete me*!!
« on: February 22, 2005, 03:21:08 PM »
Hello! I need something about following things. It is very important to me:

1. Oxidation of carboxylic acids to chinones with presence of diiode pentaoxide (I2O5), potassium peroxodisulphate (K2S2O8), potassium permanganate (KMnO4) or potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7);

2. Iodation. Inserting of iodium to the hydroxochinaldine acids ring by using diiode pentaoxide (I2O5);

3. Sulfuration of hydroxochinaldine acids by using tetraphosphorus decasulphide (P4S10);

4. Anything about Lawesson reagents.

I rely on your help because it is a very important case to me.

Thanks a lot!

What do you need to know?

There is a very good mechanistic paper by Rauchfuss.  The reference is Tetrahedron Lett. 1986, 27, 3445-8.

How to use I2O5 read from:
J. Org. Chem. 61 (1996) 9621-2
